Yin Yoga is a slow-paced class based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and the 5 elements, which are also associated with the 5 seasons. The poses are held a bit longer than in a regular yoga class, although not quite as long as in a restorative class. Yin is more concentrated on the "being" rather than the "doing" side of the energetic spectrum, so the challenge is to find your "edge", and to let go once you are there. In each class I will teach one mudra, which will be the basis for the theme of that class. Mudras bring happiness and energy to yourself, so this is a great way to learn more ways to take care of you! This class can be very opening, releasing blockages in the fascia that often stay in the body for a long time. This is a great balance class for very active lifestyles or yoga practices. As this class is not very active, please wear warmer clothes so that you feel cozy and comfortable.
