Week 1:
The Seven Chakras

Chakras_edited.jpg

This week we outline the seven major chakras, where they are located, the colours and the elements associated with each, and what parts of our lives are associated with each one.

Introduction to the Seven Chakras

Optional Activity: Make Your Own Chakra Flags

Each week, we are going to be making one of the seven chakra flags.  The very act of slowing down and concentrating on each chakra helps to bring that chakra into alignment.  This is not compulsory but highly recommended.

Instructions:

  • Click on the link below (Chakra Printable) and print out the symbol for the chakra.

  • Place the printed paper and the corresponding coloured rectangle over a window and use the light behind it to trace the shape onto your flag

  • Add the affirmations that resonate with you.

  • After the seven flags are finished, sew them onto your string or cord.

  • Hang them in your sacred space.

If you'd like to skip the preparations and purchase a set of flags already set up and ready to decorate, you can get them HERE.

Collect Materials for Chakra Flags

This week, your task is to collect the materials that you will need:

-7 coloured rectangles of material (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo/purple, violet/white
-String or cord, about 2m in length
-Black or coloured permanent markers
-Needle and thread to sew them together

(Or click on the link above to purchase a set already made and skip the preparations!)

Action Steps for This Week

1. Create a sacred space: Ideally, find a room that you can use for your own YOU time. If you can't dedicate a whole room, at least dedicate a part of a room, and make it yours. Make it cozy, decorate it, and use it for yoga, meditation, or anything else that's just for you and nobody else.

2. Get yourself a journal for the duration of these eight weeks. Find one that is new and beautiful to you. Decorate the cover if you like. Use this journal for taking notes on the lessons, and journaling how you feel and what you go through on this journey. It'll be amazing to look back and see the changes that are made along the way!

3. Get the materials for your chakra flags (if you choose to make them). Scroll up to see the list, or just order the set from Amazon. (Link above)
